An original plot, that is quite inline with our times. Quick paced and exciting. This book not only holds your interests, but keeps you guessing and wanting for more. I love the fact that it is a separate story-line from the author's first book, but yet continues to build upon that story as well. The way he develops the characters reminds me somewhat of Clancy in the detail and complexity. Looking forward to more adventures from this author.Product details

The War Stage The War Planners Book 2 edition by Andrew Watts Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
A cliff hanger from the word go.
Picked up right where War Planners left off.
Had me on the edge of my seat.
The only thing I could say that was other than positive - it was somewhat predictable. Yet each turn of the plot had me on the edge of my seat. It brought me what I look for in a thriller, nonstop action and plot twists that make it a great five star read.
I read this trilogy in two days and I recommend that others do also. Each of the books ends strangely. You are sure that there is more to the story, but the ending of each is neither a cliff hanger nor a conclusion. I did enjoy the story. I thought it fresh and innovative and the pace kept me reading in part because it was even without major highs and lows. The characters are believable and mostly likeable and their individual tension combine to create a thrilling read.
I like this series. I don't care that the book series is probably going to be three or four books. I love a good story and more importantly an author who has the vision to write a great series that allows the story to expand and unfold. Andrew Watts provides incredible character development and detail in his books. If you like war books, and like books series that take the time to unfold and get you really involved, then you will like this one. I am eagerly awaiting the third book in this series.
I have read all of Andrew's "The War Stage(The War Planners)" that he has published so far. Great writing. Stories that hold you and can't be put down. The greatest problem is that when you reach the last page of his current books, you really regret that there isn't more to read.
I can't wait for the next book on "The War Stage". Hope it arrives soon.
I hope that Andrew goes on to be a prolific writer. I will certainly be a fan and read all of his publications. He is right up there with W.E.B. Griffin, Patrick A. Davis, etc.
This is the second installment of the "War Planners" series, and interestingly, the story takes a different perspective from the first novel, no spoilers here. Like a lot of military thrillers and military science fiction these days, many of the characters are women, one might even say superwomen. Personally I have never met any people like this -- women who can "out-man" a man, but this seems to be the remorseless trend of late. Not to say women cannot out-do men, they can -- but they cannot out do men by being more masculine than men. Just sayin'.
Setting this aside, I enjoyed this second novel in the series and it held my interest throughout. RJB.
The War Stage
Fasten your seatbelt and prepare for another wild ride into the world of the not so distant future. Once again, Mr Watts takes you into the world of his imagination. With a tale so real, it seems you are watching world events as they could be. While this is the next in his series, it is easily read as a standalone novel. Of course, by reading “The War Planners” first, you will enjoy it even more.
“The War Stage” is a gritty, tightly woven tale of how things might actually happen. Mr Watts characters are once again well constructed, very believable, and fully developed right from the first pages. If you are new to Mr Watts’ work, plan on losing a little sleep. You just won't be able to put the book down this is a real page turner.
While not quite as intriguing as the first book, I thought The War Stage was still quite good. The first novel focused on David Manning, a US intelligence expert on satellites, who gets tricked into working for the Chinese to look at ways to bring down the US. This book shifts to the Middle East to David's brother Chase, who's a Navy SEAL now working with the CIA on tracking an effort by the Chinese to shift currency to bitcoins, a digital currency. The Chinese are offering to assist the United Arab Emirates and Iran into adopting the new currency. But China is also looking to control bitcoins, something they're advertising as not being possible; it's supposed to level the economic playing field and damage the strength of the US dollar.
Some of the narrative is a bit heavy handed on the economics of it all, but it's still pretty well explained.
The action later on is well done and pretty plausible. I'm looking forward to the third, and I assume final, book in the series, set to come out in late 2016 or early '17.
