Uncle Eek, a tall skinny wizard, from Leek Land, is amazed when the Mayor, Mayor Mare, announces a new king and bans Eek from using his magic.
The new king, who looks like a man named Edward but sounds suspiciously like an evil old woman, seems to have all of Leek Land under a spell.
Uncle Eek hardly has time to protest before he's placed under a spell himself and made a prisoner in his own house.
After declaring Leek Land to be all his, Edward disappears in a puff of smoke and lady's perfume, leaving only Cousin Minnie and Little Dutchy Jim-Jam free to rescue Leek Land from whoever the heck was pretending to be Edward.

Uncle Eek and the Knickerbocker Witch Uncle Eek Oddball Adventures Book 1 edition by Ian Magor Literature Fiction eBooks

Uncle Eek is a fun, imaginative tale that sometimes pulls from traditional children's tales (you may see hints of Hansel and Gretel, Baba Yaga and even Oz) and the author's own creations (the game-playing, tea-drinking, magic-wielding, eponymous Uncle Eek). The style is conversational (sort of JM Barrie-ish), and the characters are relatable without being too cliche.

I'm not certain of the target age range, but a reference to the effects of catching your parents "fooling around" should be considered. Otherwise, the rhythm and style of this short book would make it very fun to read aloud.

Uncle Eek probably won't make it to the New York Times bestseller list, but don't let the amateurish cover scare you away from what is really a quick, entertaining and well polished story.
